Save Earth From Killer Asteroids!

Many people know that a big asteroid killed of the dinosaurs 65 million years ago, and many people know that similar asteroids are still a threat to Earth.  What many people do not know is that they can help spot these killers before it's too late.  It is actually very simple, all it requires is a telescope.  A person can buy a telescope and actually look for these objects in the sky.  Then if they spot one they could spread the word and professional agencies could train their telescopes on the object and potentially save the Earth from a natural disaster.  To top this off here is a video by Emily Lakdawalla from The Planetary Society explaining the threat and how to help.

TED Talk - Light Pollution

Light Pollution is a serious problem, and not just for astronomers.  Light Pollution is a danger to wildlife and humans alike, its not just "I can't see the stupid stars" So please watch the video and visit the IDA for more information on how to stop or reduce the effect of light pollution.

When the Moon Hits a Church

Ok the moon doesn't actually hit the church but it appears as a sort of rocket in Maik Thomas's Time Lapse Video that looks like it's going to hit.  Just watch the beautiful video and see for yourself.
By the way the bright object is the moon. Just throwing it out there.
